A 7-rail galvanised steel farm gate leaf is a very durable and versatile product that is primarily used in an agricultural setting. It is typically used to create secure enclosure areas for various kinds of livestock, including horses, cattle or sheep. Their robust construction and height will act as a dependable barrier which will prevent valuable farm animals from escaping or entering a restricted or hazardous area.
This farm gate has a very traditional design. The construction of the rails and box bracing makes it structurally very sound and able to withstand the force exerted on it by large farm animals or knocks from heavy farm vehicles. Made from galvanised steel, it is highly resistant to rust or corrosion, which will ensure the gate has a long, useful life. When it comes to durability and reliability, a galvanised steel farm gate is a popular choice among farmers.
This metal gate leaf measures 1145mm in height and is 10ft wide (3048mm). The top and bottom bars measure 45mm Ø x 1.5m wall thickness, and the five infill bars, or intermediate bars, measure 32mm Ø x 1.2mm wall thickness. Each gate comes with a spring-loaded Bolt Kit (including spring, cotter pin, washer and bolt) and two M20 x 150mm adjustable eye bolts with two hex nuts. Each gate leaf has two boss holes close together at the top. This is for adjustment, or if you have different hook spaces when hanging your leaf.
The 7-rail farm gate leaf is designed for a relatively straightforward installation and is easily attached to existing posts, pillars or walls. If you need to replace your hanging or catch post, First Fence can also supply these. If you are considering replacing the posts too, then you will need Post Mix to ensure that they are securely installed into the ground and give many years of service in a challenging environment.
Although galvanised steel is a very hard-wearing material, it is recommended that the metal gate leaf is cleaned periodically to remove any dirt and debris with a stiff brush or water, and this will help to prevent the build-up of corrosive substances. Also, check the gate regularly for any signs of rust or damage that may have occurred. Take action to repair or touch up the coating to prevent corrosion and identify and repair or replace any damaged or faulty parts.
