FirstShield® System (with back bracing): This system detailed below. This is our primary, most robust solution, featuring diagonal back bracing for maximum rigidity. It is the recommended choice for full BS 5837:2012 compliance on high-risk sites.
System without back bracing: A variation suitable for sites where the risk of heavy impact is lower. This option still provides a clear, compliant demarcation of the TPZ but uses fewer components, making it a more economical choice for certain applications.
FirstShield® Tree Protection System from First Fence
Ensure complete compliance and safeguard valuable trees during construction with our FirstShield® Tree Protection Fencing System. Expertly engineered from heavy-duty scaffold poles and designed to support temporary mesh panels, this system establishes a robust Tree Protection Zone (TPZ) in full accordance with BS 5837:2012 standards. Protect root systems, trunks, and canopies from the risks of site traffic, material storage, and groundworks.
The FirstShield® system provides a formidable framework, creating a clear and secure barrier to prevent accidental damage. This kit provides the scaffold pole structure only; temporary fencing panels must be purchased separately to complete the enclosure.
Designed for installation in soft ground, the vertical posts are driven a minimum of 600mm into the earth, avoiding the need for concrete. This method prevents soil compaction and chemical leaching from alkaline materials, both of which can be detrimental to a tree's Root Protection Area (RPA). The horizontal and diagonal bracing, secured with high-quality couplers, forms an exceptionally rigid and durable structure ideal for the demands of any construction site.

- Modular Design: Multiple kits can be easily linked to create a continuous protective fence line of any required length. The system has an assembled height of 3048mm with posts at maximum 3.0m centres.
- Protects Tree Health: Prevents soil compaction, contamination, and physical damage to roots, trunks, and lower branches within the critical TPZ.
- Establishes a No-Go Zone: Creates a highly visible and controlled work environment, helping contractors to plan operations safely around protected trees.
Vertical Bracing Only System
This system is perfect for locations that do not have space for a full back-braced format. This kit is the same at FirstShield®, but without the back braced item.
It is ideal for establishing temporary perimeters, creating a frame that temporary fencing panels are attached to.
Please note: The vertical bracing only system provides a strong and secure tree protection system but does not meet the BS 5837:2012 standards.
