Kissing gates are a metal gate that allows pedestrians to move through while effectively confining livestock and animals within their designated areas. This iconic gate design, known for its dual-swing leaves, is a familiar sight in rural landscapes and is widely employed across farmlands, fields, parks, and pathways,
The name most likely comes from the fact that the gate leaves swing both ways and touch or kiss each side of the structure. This design helps to prevent animals from pushing the gate open, while still allowing people to pass through easily.
The Mobility and Pedestrian Kissing Gates from First Fence are a galvanised 7-rail format ideally suited to the outdoor setting and have a longer lifespan than a timber version. The gate is similar in appearance to the Farm Gate range available from First Fence.
Our Kissing Gates are very easy to install and maintain. They are a dig-in format, which will require Post Mix to fix them securely into the ground.
Kissing Gates can be more restrictive than a traditional leafed gate but are particularly suited on farmland where livestock needs to be kept safe and secure. Each gate comes with a Spring bolt to latch the gate leaf in place.
We have two different types of kissing gates which are the Pedestrian Kissing Gate and Mobility Kissing Gate. The main difference between the Pedestrian Kissing Gate and Mobility Kissing Gate is the size of the opening. Pedestrian Kissing Gates are typically smaller and have less room to manoeuvre round. Mobility Kissing Gates are larger, making them easier for people with mobility issues to pass through.
All of First Fence's Kissing Gates are made from galvanised steel, which makes them rust-resistant and durable. They are also easy to install and maintain.
