Even in the best-regulated play areas, accidents happen, so adequate access for emergency service vehicles is essential. An ambulance requires an opening of at least 2.15m, allowing it to fit through comfortably. The PlaySecure® machine access gate kit meets this requirement and more!
The PlaySecure® machine access gate is part of First Fence's RoSPA-compliant range, all of which are aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring child safety.
The PlaySecure® Machine Access Gate Kit measures 1.0m in height and has a width of 2.9m. Made from pre-galvanised steel and polyester powder coated in red or yellow as standard, these gates are a dig-in only format and are designed for use with RoSPA compliant bow top fencing such as First Fence's EnviroRail® bow top Play Sec railing.
Any gates and fencing that are used as a boundary for parks, play areas and other child-centric locations must be compliant with a whole host of regulations to ensure child safety and help prevent accidents. The PlaySecure® range from First Fence has been designed with this in mind.
The PlaySecure® gate is a double-leaf format with a 1.2m wide primary leaf and a 1.7m wide secondary leaf, with a total width of 2.9m which easily complies with the requirement for a 2.15m opening for emergency vehicle access. These gates have a universal swing direction that is dictated by the retrofitting of the slam plate. It is recommended that gates swing outwards unless a hazard is present, which prevents unleashed dogs from gaining entry to the play area.
The PlaySecure® gate has a large 40mm clearing between the gate leaf and post, which prevents hand or finger trapping. The guidance for this gap is that it should be greater than 12mm so the First Fence PlaySecure® machine access gate easily complies with this.
Each gate within the range comes with an in-built self-closing mechanism, which lets the gate close and latch automatically. This self-closing feature is speed-adjustable to ensure that the closing action does not exceed the five second recommendation, which allows a child to exit or enter and the gate leaf not to strike them during its movement.
The safety tethers keep the gate safe in the unlikely event of a hinge failure, preventing it from falling and causing serious injury to a child. This feature makes the gate compliant with BS EN 12604.
The gate edges are smooth and the gate has a sleek, brightly coloured polyester powder-coated finish. This coating helps prevent the formation of rust, which is a hazard itself, but also indicates the gate may eventually become structurally disintegrated and no longer be safe.
Strong 13mm self-adhesive 3M tapered rubber pads are supplied to deaden noise and reduce the risk of finger entrapment. Position them above 700mm from the ground as per safety recommendations.
The double leaf gate comes with a drop bolt to keep the gate securely in place. It is a padlockable maintenance gate that allows reliable access control, offering authorised machine or vehicle access and denying any unauthorised entry.
