Bolt down fixings are an excellent way of securing your gate posts to hard ground; however, with time, they can become loose, the substance they are attached to may crack, and an unsafe gate is a hazard. A chemical fixing may be a better choice for this situation.
Resin or chemical fixings help to form a very stable, watertight joining and will bond to the shape of the drilled hole. The stress load of the gate is conveyed along the full length of the bond created by the resin and the bolt, and because of this strength, it is possible to have much closer edge and spacing gaps. This isn’t always possible with a mechanical fixing in weaker masonry, as it may crack or crumble.
This 410ml vinyl ester resin comes with a nozzle (spares can be purchased on the First Fence website). The narrow end already has a hole for accurate resin transfer, and the nozzle can be cut with a blade if you wish to shorten the length. This cartridge will be sufficient for between 5 and 10 ground anchor bolts, depending on the size of the hole. Fill three-quarters of the hole with resin before inserting and twisting the anchor into it.
This product is styrene-free, which means it is safe for both transport and health. It can be used for threaded stud installation, internal threaded sockets, and rebar. Correct preparation for fitting chemical resin anchors is essential.
