If you have used mechanical bolt fixings for your gate posts, over time, due to the movement of a heavy gate, the holes can become weakened, loosened, and may crack and render the gate unstable and potentially dangerous. This is where chemical fixings come into their own and are highly recommended for gate posts.

Chemical or resin fixings create a stable and watertight link and bond to the shape of the hole that has been drilled. Stress loads can be transferred along the length of the bond and enable close edge or spacing distances; something not readily possible with mechanical fixings which can cause splitting and crumbling to some materials.

Resin is injected into the hole to help form the strong connection that is needed. Injection resin comes with a nozzle that can be cut with a sharp blade to let the resin pass through in a regulated manner. However, it is very useful to have a spare mixer nozzle.

Sometimes you may find that you don’t release the full cartridge of resin during a job, and the resin will probably have set inside the original, so having spares enables you to utilise what is left on another project. You may find that the resin becomes difficult to pump so then you know it is time to replace the nozzle too. Use with polyester and vinyl ester resins.
