9.0ft Wide 7-Rail Farm Gate Kit
Metal Farm or Field Gates are essential to rural farm businesses, they allow the control of foot and vehicle traffic, livestock to be kept safe and secure and act as a deterrent to potential thieves. They need to be very robust as they can take quite a battering from large animals and accidental vehicle contact, so metal will always be the superior choice over timber. It can withstand changing weather and temperature and when a steel field gate is installed correctly and routinely maintained it should be an excellent investment.
First Fence has an extensive range of Farm Gate Kits ranging from 3ft to 16ft. Each is a standard height of 1145 mm and is a 7-bar style. The bars to the lower half of the gate leaf are closer together than those at the top and this will help to prevent small animals escaping through. These bars or rails are welded to a box section at each side of the gate creating a very sturdy, braced construction.
The Kit comes with Adjustable Gate Eyes which allow uneven ground or gradients to be accounted for as there is a greater degree of flexibility than with a fixed hinge. A metal gate has weight and will need the correct posts to hang it from, the Kit contains a Hanging Post and a Slotted Post, both of which have an overall diameter of 114.3mm (4.5") and an actual length of 2000mm (this accounts for the post being concreted into the ground. The Hinge Post has lugs to hang the leaf onto.) All items within the kit are available to be purchased separately.
The Farm Gate Kit is a dig in format product and will need to be concreted into the ground substance. First Fence stocks Post Mix that is perfect for this job. The ground clearance of the gate may vary depending on the ground conditions.
