First Fence is excited to introduce our newest product line: Timber Acoustic Fencing. This innovative range features three styles—EchoGroove, EchoReflect, and EchoAbsorb—all designed to effectively combat unwanted noise.

Excessive noise, commonly known as sound intrusion, can disrupt communication and recreational activities and in severe cases, cause hearing impairment or mental health problems. Wooden barriers are highly effective in both absorbing and reflecting sound, significantly reducing noise levels in a variety of settings.

The 3.0m EchoAbsorb Absorbent Acoustic Fencing Kit is offered as a loose kit for easy on-site assembly or as pre-assembled panels. These kits are favoured for their versatility and are suitable for residential, commercial, industrial, educational, and healthcare environments.

Please note that this kit does not include any fixings; you will need 64mm stainless steel nails compatible with your nail gun and two M10 x 150mm coach screws per rail.

Please be aware that we do not recommend bolting down your Acoustic Fencing. For the most secure installation, we advise digging in your Acoustic Fencing, to help ensure site safety and wind loading.

Features and Benefits

These timber acoustic panels are highly effective at absorbing and muffling unwanted noise, making them ideal for containing sound within a specific area. The two-part design includes one side with sound-reflective vertical sawn boards and cover strips, while the other side features a protective membrane and rockwool for sound absorption.

The acoustic fencing can be installed with either steel or timber posts, both available from First Fence. The steel posts come with wooden wedges for installation in a dig-in-only format.

The EchoAbsorb Acoustic Fencing Kit offers an easy solution for local authorities managing traffic noise, builders reducing construction noise, and homeowners seeking tranquility.

All timber acoustic fencing in this range has been independently tested by Salford University, meeting the standards of Highways England (BS EN 1793 Road Traffic Noise Reducing Devices). It also complies with BS EN 1794-1 and BS EN 1794-2, following Highways Sector Scheme 2C for prefabricated environmental barriers.

Crafted from UC4 Tanalised, pressure-treated timber sourced from an FSC-certified supplier, this wood features a natural, soft pale green color that blends seamlessly with its surroundings. Surface incision during manufacturing ensures maximum preservative protection, particularly for timber in ground contact.

The loose kit includes EchoAbsorb Straight Boards, Timber Gravel Board, Capping and Counter Rails, Horizontal Rails, and Cover Strips, forming one bay of 3.0m high by 2.4m wide timber acoustic fencing.

These timber acoustic barriers come with a manufacturer-provided 30-year service life and are designed to be maintenance-free when properly installed. The panels can be painted with a breathable stain or paint. It is recommended to clear vegetation from the installation area and avoid placing the panels in waterlogged locations.

Beyond noise reduction, these panels enhance privacy and provide a visually appealing alternative to industrial-style security fencing. The EchoAbsorb panels are also available in heights ranging from 1.8 to 5.0m.
