16.0ft Wide 7-Rail Farm Gate Kit
A Farm Gate is a real workhorse and needs to be incredibly strong to withstand the testing conditions of the farm environment. It is permanently sited outdoors so will need to resist the effects of the elements, but also there is the possibility of accidental damage that may be caused by heavy vehicles or herds of cattle. Timber gates are a popular choice but wood doesn't have the longevity of metal so a galvanised steel product is the better option.
The 16.0ft Wide Farm Gate Kit from First Fence is just one of many available and is for the very large gateway that requires a heavy-duty galvanised steel barrier. This particular gate is designed for agricultural use as the tubular rails ensure that animal tails or ear-tags don't get trapped. The gate leaf itself is a classic 7-bar design that is very recognisable. The horizontal bars have a smooth, tubular shape and are placed closer together in the lower half of the leaf, this stops small livestock escaping. These bars are welded to a box section at each end of the leaf and this forms a very strong structure.
With the Kit come a Hanging and Slotted Gate Post, both of which are galvanised steel and have an overall diameter of 114.3mm (4.5"). The actual length of each post is 2000mm and this allows a minimum dig in of 600mm. The Hinge Post has two lugs that the leaf is attached to with the Adjustable Gate Eyes which can be adjusted in small amounts to allow for uneven ground.
The metal farm gate kits also come with a Spring Bolt Kit made up of individual items; a Slider Latch Bar, spring, M20 Flat Washer and a tension pin. The assembled Spring Bolt does not need to be bolted to the gate.
This gate kit is a dig in format and will need Post Mix to secure it into the ground.
