Understanding SR1 (A1) Rated Security Fencing

The ProFence® security mesh product line embodies First Fence's top-tier selection of security-rated products. These products have undergone rigorous testing and certification to meet the demanding SR1 (A1) LPS 1175 standards.

This certification signifies that the product provides a one-minute resistance against intrusion attempts utilising Toolkit A. Toolkit A comprises small, easily hidden tools like glass cutters, pliers, spanners, non-metallic rope and bolt cutters, typically used by individuals targeting high-value properties. This key sixty-second delay proves invaluable by affording a security team with time needed to promptly detect and respond to potential breaches, possibly deterring criminals from looting valuable assets or causing harm.

First Fence's ProFence® collection includes fence kits in both 358 Prison Mesh and 868 Twin Mesh, offering various height options. Additionally, our expertly designed single and double gates seamlessly complement the ProFence® fencing system. This product range has rightfully earned its place in the Red Book, a testament to its stringent SR1 testing.

Features and Benefits

Our security-rated 868 mesh gate, designed with a double-leaf configuration, is fabricated from steel which has been hot dip galvanised to ISO 1461 standards. They are then coated with a robust polyester powder layer. This coating gives protection against rust, corrosion, and daily wear and tear. Furthermore, it is available in a range of RAL colours. Not only does this protective layer add durability, but it can also be customised to align with your corporate branding, imparting a sleek, professional appearance to your fencing and gate.

The gate includes the distinctive 868 Mesh which is also known as Twin Mesh or dual mesh due to its double horizontal wires. This extremely sturdy wire mesh features a narrow pattern that obstructs object passage while making scaling or cutting attempts challenging. However, it allows monitoring of activity on a perimeter to be carried out and so it is particularly suitable for scenarios where this clear visibility is a top priority, especially when integrated with CCTV systems.

The gate kit includes six adjustable gate eyes, ensuring that even in the unlikely event of a single hinge failure, the gate remains secure, preventing accidents, damage, or injuries. Each adjustable gate eye bolt is firmly secured with a snap-off nut, reducing the risk of post-installation tampering. Two Drop Bolts enhance the security of your security-rated double gate.

Easy Installation

Installation of this accredited security gate is relatively straightforward and follows the format of a standard mesh gate.

First Fence's SR1-rated mesh gate kit is available in both dig-in and bolt-down formats, accommodating a wide range of ground conditions. It is vital to assess the ground conditions where you intend to erect the gate before purchasing as this will determine which kit variant you need. Soft soil or turfed areas require the dig-in option, while concrete or solid ground demands bolt-down posts.

The bolt-down kit includes essential ground anchor bolts. If you opt for the dig-in kit, consider adding Post Mix to your order, with a recommended four bags per post for a sturdy installation. Post Mix is also available in larger bulk quantities if needed. You should use either C20 or C25 post mix.

This gate is a large width and so will cater to both pedestrian access and small vehicles like forklifts. The sliding latch bolt securely keeps the leaves closed, while the drop bolts ensure their secure positioning. You retain the flexibility to open one or both leaves according to your specific site requirements.

A recommended range of approved Secure By Design (SBD) padlocks is available.
