Picket pale fencing is a traditional style reminiscent of classic American homes and gardens, featuring vertical pales attached to horizontal rails. Available in various styles, including pointed or flat tops, picket fences can be made from wood, metal, or recycled materials. Known for its welcoming charm and clean lines, it suits both traditional and modern landscapes. While not intended for high security, it effectively defines boundaries with an open, visible border.
Recycled plastic picket pale fencing is part of First Fence's plastic product line, which also features knee rail fencing and post and rail fencing. This product line includes posts, rails, and pales.
We suggest this system be fixed with twin flight, parallel thread, coarse pitch screws. Note that these do not come with the product.
The picket pale fencing products are constructed from Plaswood, a material made from recycled plastic. While Plaswood resembles real wood, it offers several advantages: it endures various weather conditions and temperature changes, resists rot and warping, repels moisture, and remains splinter-free. Once properly installed, it requires no maintenance and can be washed down to remove dirt or debris.
The centre pale for recycled plastic picket pale fencing post measures 1200mm x 30m x 100m and is available in black or brown. It is designed to work with the recycled plastic posts and rails in in the range and allows you to create a fencing run of any length. The posts are installed 500mm into the ground and secured with one bag of post mix per post. The rails are attached horizontally to the posts and then the pales are added vertically to this framework. The centre pale is slightly longer than the standard pales and sits in the centre of the bay to add stability to the fencing structure.
Based on 50mm gaps between pales, you will need 20 pales in total (18 standard, 2 centre) per 3.1m section. As there is an even number of pales per 1.5m (10) the longer pale will be slightly off centre. You can amend the gap to approximately 40mm and use an odd number of pales to place the longer pale exactly in the centre. This adjustment is based on your preference.
The recycled plastic picket post needs to be dug 500mm into the ground to form a 1.2m high system, posts should be set at 1.5m centres. The posts, pales and rails can be fixed in place with twin flight, parallel thread, coarse pitch screws, similar to those used with wooden particle boards or hi-low screws.
Leave a 100mm gap between the ground and the bottom of the pales.
