Excessive noise can disrupt daily life and pose significant well-being concerns. Timber barriers are a highly effective countermeasure, excelling at both absorbing and reflecting sound to lower noise levels. Embodying this principle, First Fence's new Timber Acoustic Fencing range offers a proven solution. A prime example is our 4.2m x 3.0m EchoAbsorb Acoustic Fencing Kit, renowned for its versatility across residential, commercial, educational, and healthcare settings. To accommodate any project, it is offered as either a flexible loose-component kit for on-site construction or as convenient pre-assembled panels.
The EchoAbsorb kit uses a dual-action panel to combat noise. One side, made of vertical timber boards, reflects sound, while the other side uses a high-density Rockwool core with a protective membrane to absorb it.
This design is effective for reducing noise from sources such as road traffic, construction, and industrial activity. It is a suitable solution for applications in residential, commercial, and transport sectors where noise mitigation is required.
Acoustic Performance: The system has been independently tested by Salford University. It is certified to meet Highways England standard BS EN 1793 (Road Traffic Noise Reducing Devices) and complies with durability standards BS EN 1794-1 and BS EN 1794-2.
Material Construction: Manufactured from FSC-certified timber that is pressure-treated to UC4 Tanalised specification. The timber is surface-incised to maximise preservative penetration, making it suitable for ground contact.
Service Life: The fencing is designed to be maintenance-free and has a manufacturer-specified 30-year desired service life, subject to correct installation and site conditions.
Finish and Function: The timber has a natural pale green finish, which can be painted or stained with a breathable product. The solid panel construction also provides a high degree of visual privacy as an alternative to industrial-style fencing.
Kit Contents: Each loose kit contains all components required to assemble one 3.0m high x 3.0m wide fencing bay. This includes: EchoAbsorb Straight Boards, a Gravel Board, Capping and Counter Rails, Horizontal Rails, and Cover Strips.
Post Installation: The system requires a dig-in post installation.. It is compatible with both timber posts and galvanised steel posts, which are available separately from First Fence. Steel posts are supplied with wooden wedges for installation.
Site Prerequisites: The intended fence line must be cleared of all vegetation. Panels should not be installed in locations where they may be subject to standing water. For wind loading suitability at a specific location, a structural engineer must be consulted.
Our EchoAbsorb Panels are available in heights from 1.8m to 10.0m and also in a 2.4m width format.
First Fence has more timber acoustic fencing ranges: EchoReflect and EchoGroove. Contact us for more advice and details about which one is right for your next project. We also have a range of Sound Absorption Barriers and accessories for temporary fencing.
