First Fence is thrilled to present our latest product line-up: Timber Acoustic Fencing. This innovative line-up has three styles to choose from: EchoGroove, EchoReflect, and EchoAbsorb, all strategically crafted to effectively tackle unwanted noise.

High levels of noise, often referred to as sound intrusion, can disrupt communication and recreational activities and, in severe instances, result in hearing impairment or mental health challenges. Wooden barriers excel at both absorbing and reflecting sound, thereby substantially decreasing noise levels across diverse environments.

The EchoAbsorb Absorbent Acoustic Fencing Kit, available in a 4.0m size, is provided as either a loose kit for on-site assembly or as pre-assembled panels. These kits are highly sought-after for their versatility and suitability in residential, commercial, industrial, educational, and healthcare settings.

Please note that this kit does not include any fixings; you will need 64mm stainless steel nails compatible with your nail gun and two M10 x 150mm coach screws per rail.

Please be aware that we do not recommend bolting down your Acoustic Fencing. For the most secure installation, we advise digging in your Acoustic Fencing, to help ensure wind loading and site security.

Features and Benefits

These timber acoustic panels excel at absorbing and muffling unwanted noise. They are perfect for containing sound within a designated area. The two-part panels feature one side with sound-reflective vertical sawn boards and cover strips, and the other side with a protective membrane and rockwool for sound absorption.

The acoustic fencing can be installed with either steel or timber posts, both available from First Fence. The steel posts come with wooden wedges for installation in a dig-in-only format.

The EchoAbsorb Acoustic Fencing Kit provides a straightforward solution for local authorities managing traffic noise, builders reducing construction noise, and homeowners seeking peace and quiet.

All timber acoustic fencing in this range has been independently tested by Salford University, meeting the standards of Highways England (BS EN 1793 Road Traffic Noise Reducing Devices). It also complies with BS EN 1794-1 and BS EN 1794-2, following Highways Sector Scheme 2C for prefabricated environmental barriers.

Manufactured from UC4 Tanalised, pressure-treated timber from an FSC-certified supplier, this wood has a natural, soft pale green colour that blends seamlessly with its surroundings. Surface incision at the manufacturing site ensures maximum preservative protection, especially for timber in ground contact.

The loose kit includes EchoAbsorb Straight Boards, Timber Gravel Board, Capping and Counter Rails, Horizontal Rails, and Cover Strips, forming one bay of 4.0m high by 2.4m wide timber acoustic fencing.

These timber acoustic barriers offer a manufacturer-provided 30-year service life and are designed to be maintenance-free with proper installation. The panels can be painted with a breathable stain or paint. It is recommended to clear vegetation from the installation area and avoid placing the panels in waterlogged locations.

Beyond noise reduction, these panels enhance privacy and provide a visually appealing alternative to industrial-style security fencing. The EchoAbsorb panels are also available in heights ranging from 1.8 to 5.0m.
