Galvanised steel farm gates have widespread use within an agricultural business setting. They are used to form livestock pens and to close the entrance to a pasture or field. Also they are effective when managing the movement of farm animals from one field to another, to restrict unauthorised access of the public and for overall farm security.
This type of metal field gate is a very traditional and easily recognised design, if you see a gate in the entrance to a field it will probably be this style. They have to be very sturdy and hard-wearing as they need to put up with a lot in terms of the effects of harsh weather, damage and continual daily use, so a metal gate will be the perfect choice. It needs to be durable, strong, versatile and easy to maintain.
Manufactured from galvanised steel, this 12ft wide farm gate leaf has a resistance to rust and corrosion due to the layer of zinc it has covering it which ensures a long and productive lifespan. Any product that is in permanent outdoor use will need to have some form of weather and damage protection otherwise it will soon rust and become unfit for its purpose. For durability and reliability a galvanised metal gate is favoured by farmers.
This metal gate leaf is 1145mm high and has a width of 12ft (3657mm). The top and bottom bars measure 45mm Ø x 1.5m wall thickness, and the five infill bars, or intermediate bars, measure 32mm Ø x 1.2mm wall thickness. Each gate comes with a spring-loaded Bolt Kit (including spring, cotter pin, washer and bolt) and two M20 x 150mm adjustable eye bolts with two hex nuts. Each gate leaf has two boss holes close together at the top, this is for adjustment or if you have different hook spaces when hanging your leaf.
Installing the 7-rail field entrance gate is a relatively straightforward process, easily attaching to existing posts, pillars or walls, If a replacement of hanging or catch posts is necessary, First Fence can provide them as well. Should you decide to replace the posts, Post Mix is recommended to ensure secure installation into the ground, thus ensuring years of service in challenging environments.
While a galvanised metal farm gate is highly resistant, periodic cleaning of the gate leaf is advised to remove built up debris and dirt, this helps prevent the accumulation of potentially corrosive material. Additionally it is important to inspect the gate for signs of rust or damage and prompt action should be taken to touch up, repair or replace any faulty parts.
