QAB Systems Fall Restraint Bracket for 358 Prison Mesh

The hierarchy of control that is normally applied for working at height is: Avoid working at height if possible, use an existing safe place of work, provide work equipment to prevent falls, mitigate distance and consequences of a fall, and instruction and training and/or other means.

Working at height sometimes cannot be avoided, fence installers of welded mesh security systems need to work at height due to the nature of their job. Someone may not consider a height of 3m very far to fall, however if you landed on your head or neck, you will most likely sustain life-changing injuries or even worse. It is your and your employer’s responsibility to make sure you go home after work uninjured, so it is unwise to take unsafe working decisions.

There are alternative methods to assist working at height; mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) and scaffolding. These can require ground surveys and need training to put in place, also they can be time-consuming and costly to erect and may not be suited to certain terrains.

The QAB Bracket System consists of a range of devices for joining fall prevention equipment that will keep installers safe while erecting or working on 358 Prison Mesh fencing systems.

In line with industry best practice each bracket is anodized in a different colour to enable immediate recognition. The Fall Restraint Bracket is titanium coloured while the Lifting Brackets are red.

The product measures 130mm x 110mm x 69.5mm, weighs 0.666kg and has a SWL (Safe Working Load) of 120kg.

When the Fall Restraint Bracket is used with a positional work harness and an alterable lanyard system this will provide fall protection and safe access when vertical bolting or accessing fence top defence areas.

When used in conjunction with the Multi-Purpose Bracket, it takes away the need for ladders and will provide a comfortable working position while installing or doing maintenance work on security fences. This bracket is working at height regulations compliant.

This bracket is the most versatile product in the accessory range. It allows the user to safely move up the fence and position themselves correctly for the job.
