Understanding A1 (SR1) Rated Security Fencing

This certification denotes a one-minute delay against a hostile attack employing a variety of hand tools from Toolkit A. These small hand tools include glass cutters, wrenches, bolt cutters, spanners and pliers, all of which are compact and easily concealable by potential intruders seeking entry into valuable premises. These vital sixty seconds can provide sufficient time for on-site security personnel to detect a breach on CCTV and initiate a swift response and stop a break-in.

The rigorous SR1 testing procedure has rightfully earned this product range a prestigious place in the Red Book.

First Fence's ProFence® product range is available in both 868 and 358 mesh, offering fencing kits and single and double leaf gates in a wide range of heights and widths.

Features and Benefits

This gate, designed with two leaves, offers great versatility in access control as one or both leaves can be opened allowing for a higher volume of people to pass through, perhaps with larger package-type items. Constructed from top-quality steel, which has been hot dip galvanised, compliant to ISO 1461 standards. The gate is additionally protected by a polyester powder coating that is available in various colours. This dual coating provides enhanced defence against wear, damage, rust, and corrosion, which is important for a product that is permanently sited out of doors and in continual use.

The kit includes gate leaves two hinge gate posts, two drop bolts, six adjustable gate eyes, and ribbed inserts for the gate frame and posts. The gate leaves feature an 868 mesh infill, a well-established security mesh configuration. The vertical wires are 6mm thick, while the horizontals are 8mm, giving the mesh its designation.

This type of mesh is very sturdy and significantly resistant to cutting, making it particularly suitable for scenarios where clear perimeter visibility is imperative or for integration with CCTV systems.

The gate kit incorporates six adjustable gate eyes; in the unlikely event of a hinge failure, the gate remains secure, preventing accidents, injury or damage. Each of the adjustable gate eye bolts is firmly kept in place with a snap-off nut, reducing the risk of post-installation removal.

Simple Installation

Installation is the same method as standard mesh products. First Fence's SR1-rated gate kit is offered in both a dig-in and bolt-down format, therefore suitable for most ground conditions. Make your assessment of the ground ground on which you intend to install this gate before you make your selection. If it is grass or other soft terrain, the dig-in option is required, whereas concrete and other solid ground types will necessitate bolt-down posts.

Grass and other soft ground types will require the Dig-In Posts, whereas concrete and other hard ground types will necessitate Bolt Down Posts. The bolt-down kit includes the essential ground anchor bolts. If you opt for the dig-in kit, you will need to add Post Mix to your order. We recommend three bags per post and that it is either C20 or C25 post mix.

A recommended range of approved Secure By Design (SBD) padlocks is available.
