Understanding SR1 (A1) Rated Security Fencing

The ProFence® security range has undergone exhaustive testing and earned accreditation under the stringent SR1 (A1) LPS 1175 standards. This accreditation signifies a one-minute delay against a hostile attack using a variety of hand tools belonging to Toolkit A.

These tools can include glass cutters, spanners, and pliers, all of which are compact and easily concealed by potential intruders seeking entry into valuable sites. The critical sixty seconds can provide ample time for on-site security personnel to detect a perimeter breach on CCTV and initiate a prompt response.

Features and Advantages

This gate, designed with two leaves, provides greater flexibility in controlling access. Fabricated from high-quality steel, which has been hot dip galvanised, to ISO 1461 standards. The gate is further shielded by a polyester powder coating available in various colours. This dual coating affords enhanced protection against wear and tear, damage, rust, and corrosion.

The kit includes a sliding gate leaf and a catch leaf, two hinge gate posts, two drop bolts, six adjustable gate eyes, and ribbed inserts for the gate frame and posts. The gate leaves feature an 868 mesh infill, a well-recognised security mesh configuration. The vertical wires are 6mm thick, while the horizontals are 8mm, giving the mesh its name.

This type of mesh is exceptionally robust and resistant to cutting, making it particularly suitable for situations where clear perimeter visibility is crucial, or for integration with CCTV systems.

The gate kit incorporates six adjustable gate eyes; in the unlikely event of a hinge failure, the gate remains secure, preventing accidents, damage, or injuries. Each adjustable gate eye bolt is securely fastened with a snap-off nut, minimising the risk of post-installation removal.

Easy Installation

The SR1 rated gate kit from First Fence is available in both a dig-in and bolt-down format, which will accommodate most ground conditions. It is important to assess the ground you plan to install this onto, if it is grass or other soft ground you will require the dig-in option, whereas concrete and other hard ground types will require bolt down posts.

Ground suitability – this gate should be assembled with the right type of posts for the ground that it will stand upon. Grass and other soft ground types require Dig-In Posts, whereas concrete and other hard ground types will require Bolt Down Posts.

The bolt down kit comes with the essential ground anchor bolts, if you choose the dig in kit, you will need to add Post Mix to your order. We recommend three bags per post. You should use either a C20 or C25 grade post mix.

This gate would be suitable for both pedestrian access and for small vehicles such as forklifts. The sliding latch bolt keeps the leaves in the closed position and the drop bolts keep the leaves secured. One or both leaves can be opened depending on your needs.
