Understanding SR1 (A1) Rated Security Fencing and Gates

The ProFence® security mesh product line represents the pinnacle of First Fence's current selection of security-rated products. These items have undergone rigorous testing and certification to meet the exacting standards of LPS 1175 SR1 (A1).

This certification confirms that our products offer crucial one-minute resistance against intrusion attempts employing Toolkit A, which comprises inconspicuous tools like glass cutters, pliers, spanners, non-metallic rope, and bolt cutters – easily concealable handheld tools frequently used by those targeting high-value properties. This essential sixty-second delay proves invaluable by providing security teams with the time needed to detect and respond promptly to potential breaches, potentially deterring criminals from pilfering valuable assets or causing harm.

First Fence's ProFence® assortment offers fence kits in both 358 Prison Mesh and 868 Twin Mesh, providing a variety of height options. Additionally, our expertly crafted double and single gates complement the Profence® fencing system. This product range has rightfully earned its place in the Red Book, a testament to the rigorous SR1 testing.

Features and Benefits

First Fence's security-rated 358 mesh gate, featuring a double-leaf configuration, is constructed from hot-dipped galvanised steel and further coated with a durable polyester powder. This coating not only shields against rust, corrosion, damage, vandalism, and daily wear and tear but also offers the option of a range of RAL colours for customisation to align with your corporate branding, imparting a sleek and professional appearance to your fencing system and gate.

The gate incorporates the distinctive 358 Mesh, also known as Prison Mesh due to its use in high-security facilities. This exceptionally robust wire mesh features a narrow pattern that obstructs object passage while making scaling or cutting attempts exceedingly challenging for intruders. However, it allows for efficient perimeter monitoring, making it particularly suitable for scenarios where clear visibility is paramount, especially when integrated with CCTV systems.

The gate kit includes six adjustable gate eyes, ensuring that even in the unlikely event of a single hinge failure, the gate will remain secure, thereby preventing accidents, damage, or injuries. Each adjustable gate eye bolt is firmly secured with a snap-off nut, mitigating the risk of post-installation tampering. Two Drop Bolts enhance the security of your security-rated double gate.

Easy Installation

The installation of this accredited security gate is relatively straightforward and adheres to that of a standard mesh gate. You can choose to root-fix it into the ground or secure it with ground anchor bolts.

First Fence's SR1-rated mesh gate kit is available in both dig-in and bolt-down formats, accommodating a broad range of ground conditions. It is crucial to assess the ground conditions at your intended installation site before making your purchase, as this will determine the appropriate kit variant. Soft soil or turfed areas will require the dig-in option, while concrete or solid ground demands bolt-down posts.

The bolt-down kit includes essential ground anchor bolts. If you opt for the dig-in kit, consider adding Post Mix to your order, with a recommended four bags per post for a sturdy installation. Post Mix is also available in larger bulk quantities if needed. You should use either C20 or C25 post mix.

This gate boasts a substantial width, making it the largest in this height range, catering to both pedestrian access and vehicles. The sliding latch bolt securely maintains the leaves closed, while the drop bolts ensure their steadfast positioning. You retain the flexibility to open one or both leaves according to your specific site requirements.

A recommended range of approved Secure By Design (SBD) padlocks is available.
