When choosing products for play areas, numerous factors need consideration. The product's height must prevent easy climbing or slipping through by children. Vertical railings should be closely spaced to avoid a child's head getting stuck while maintaining good visibility. Smooth surfaces are crucial to prevent cuts or scrapes, and the product should be free of sharp edges or protruding elements that could cause injury. Additionally, durability, weather resistance, and low-maintenance features are essential for outdoor conditions, with adherence to safety standards being a top priority.

Introducing the EnviroRail® Play Sec Railing Gate, a new addition designed to integrate with the EnviroRail® Play Sec Railing range.

Features and Benefits

Crafted with an innovative and environmentally conscious technique, the EnviroRail® Play Sec Gate minimises its eco-impact during production. Using bespoke, laser-cut components pressed together to form robust bonds, this technique reduces the need for energy-intensive welding, resulting in bonds as sturdy as their welded counterparts.

The EnviroRail® Play Sec Gate Kit is made from pre-galvanised steel in compliance with BS 10346 standards and coated with polyester powder. This construction ensures robustness and resistance to harsh outdoor conditions. The dual-layer protection not only assures dependable functionality but also maintains its aesthetic appeal for an extended period.

Each EnviroRail® kit is comprised of hollow tubular sections. These hollow tubes provide an incredibly high level of strength whilst helping to keep the weight to a minimum, making handling, transport and installation much easier.

The EnviroRail® gate range offers full modularity and a lightweight system with swift installation, accommodating various gate hardware items. Universally designed, these gates provide on-site flexibility without the need for specific right or left-hand specifications, simplifying the decision-making process during installation. This modular functionality allows easy adjustments, providing adaptability that fixed hardware cannot offer.

The single leaf gate kit includes a hinge and catch post, a single Play Sec Railing leaf, and three adjustable gate eyes. Three hinges give BS 12604 compliance, ensuring safety even in the unlikely event of one hinge failing. The gate hooks, fully welded to the gate post, create a fixed-axis hinge, eliminating vertical movement.

Pre-drilled holes make it straightforward to attach the gate eyes and a drop bolt, with plastic plugs included to cover unused holes on the gate attack face. Compatible with security locks, the gate allows for up to 30mm of adjustment from the catch post, ensuring ease of installation.

Safety Compliance

Rails are set at 100mm centres to prevent entrapment, and top bows are 90mm to prevent wrist or neck traps. The design and manufacture of the EnviroRail® Play Sec Railing Gate comply with BS EN 1176 regulations.

The gate offers 50mm ground clearance when correctly installed, opening 90° in and out as a single leaf gate.

Available in various heights and widths, these gates come in dig-in or bolt-down versions, suitable for diverse environments. For the dig-in variant, Post Mix needs to be added to the order, and the bolt-down version requires four M16 x 125mm ground anchor bolts per post.
