First Fence presents the EnviroRail® Play Sec Railing series – an eco-friendly solution tailored for establishing secure perimeters around parks and playgrounds. Specifically designed to prioritise the safety of children, this railing range also enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the environment.

When selecting products for play areas, several factors demand consideration. The height of the product should be suitable to prevent easy climbing or slipping through by children. Vertical railings must be closely spaced to avert a child's head from getting stuck while maintaining proper visibility. Smooth surfaces are essential to prevent cuts or scrapes, and the product should be devoid of sharp edges or protruding elements that could cause injury. Moreover, the product's durability, weather resistance, and low-maintenance features are crucial to withstand outdoor conditions, while compliance with safety standards remains a top priority.

Introducing the EnviroRail® Play Sec Railing Gate – a new addition designed to seamlessly integrate with the EnviroRail® Play Sec Railing range.

Features and Benefits

Crafted using an innovative and environmentally conscious technique, the EnviroRail® Play Sec Gate distinguishes itself with a lower eco-impact during production. Using bespoke, laser-cut components pressed together to form robust bonds, this technique reduces the need for energy-intensive welding. The resulting pressed bonds are as sturdy as their welded counterparts.

Each EnviroRail® Play Sec Gate Kit is constructed from pre-galvanised steel meeting BS 10346 standards and coated with polyester powder, ensuring durability and resilience against harsh outdoor elements. This double-layer protection guarantees reliable functionality and preserves aesthetic appeal for many years.

Each EnviroRail® kit is comprised of hollow tubular sections. These hollow tubes provide an incredibly high level of strength whilst helping to keep the weight to a minimum, making handling, transport and installation much easier.

The EnviroRail® gate range offers full modularity and a lightweight system for swift installation, accommodating various gate hardware items. Universally designed, these gates provide on-site flexibility without the need for specific right or left-hand specifications, simplifying the decision-making process during installation. This modular functionality allows easy adjustments, providing adaptability that fixed hardware cannot offer.

The single leaf gate kit includes a hinge and catch post, a single Play Sec Railing leaf, and three adjustable gate eyes. Three hinges ensure BS 12604 compliance, ensuring safety even in the unlikely event of one hinge failing. The gate hooks, fully welded to the gate post, create a fixed-axis hinge, eliminating vertical movement.

Pre-drilled holes make it straightforward to attach gate eyes and a drop bolt, with plastic plugs included to cover unused holes on the gate attack face. Compatible with security locks, the gate allows for up to 30mm of adjustment from the catch post, ensuring ease of installation.

Safety Compliance

Rails are set at 100mm centres to prevent entrapment, and the upper bows are 90mm to prevent wrist or neck traps. The design and manufacture of the EnviroRail® Play Sec Railing Gate comply with BS EN 1176 regulations.

The gate offers 50mm ground clearance when correctly installed, opening 90° in and out as a single leaf gate.

Available in various heights and widths, these gates come in dig-in or bolt-down versions, suitable for diverse environments. For the dig-in variant, Post Mix needs to be added to the order, and the bolt-down version requires four M16 x 125mm ground anchor bolts per post.
