The EL/K-90 wall eaves lintel has been designed to provide support for openings for windows at eaves level. These lintels have a shorter outer leaf which allows the underside of the soffit board to be tightly positioned against the window frame. The inner leaf is 100mm which allows for the support of standard blockwork and also has a plaster key incorporated into the leaf. This range of eaves lintels also uses a thermal break plate on the underside, allowing for superior structural performance.
These eaves lintels are available in 150mm increments starting at 750mm up to 2700mm, making these suitable for a range of window opening lengths.
Please note: For correct installation, the EL/K-90 lintels require 150mm end bearings at each end. For example: if the opening is 1200mm then the lintel length will require an additional 300mm to accommodate for these end bearings.
These eaves lintels have been constructed from high quality pre-galvanised steel mild steel which, depending on the lintel length, is between 1.8mm and 2.5mm thick. The EL/k-90 lintels also satisfy the thermal performance requirements of England and Wales’ part L of the building regulations, Northern Ireland’s part F and Scotland’s technical handbook, section 6.
In order for this lintel to support the specified loads below, the lintel will need to be installed correctly.
The figures also take into account the different loading types which are common in traditional cavity wall construction. These lintels have been tested as a composite unit with surrounding masonry and have been built in accordance with BS EN 1996-2:2006. These figures have been acquired through testing in accordance with the requirements of standards BS 5977 Part 2: 1983 and BS EN 845-2:2003
Differential Total UDL kN 19:1 (up to 95% loading on the inner leaf)
Please note: Brickwork cannot be built onto the outer leaf of the EL/K-90 eaves lintel. Any masonry is to be built on the inner leaf only.
