When your site has high security needs, then razor wire is a cost effective and intimidating solution.
Fabricated from high tensile steel, this product has a wide central band for additional rigidity, has sharp blades at intervals along its length, and is galvanised to prevent rusting. Each unit is 10 metres long and comes in 450mm (18”) coil diameter. When stretched, the coil is 400mm (15.7"). The profile of this wire is sharper, has greater rigidity, and is significantly more difficult to cut than a standard razor wire. The barbs have a snagging and piercing action.
Barbed tape or razor wire is the contemporary form of barbed wire and is designed to thwart a breach of your boundary fencing.
Razor wire is a versatile and customisable product. It will work on most styles and lengths of walls, fences, or gates, and once in place it will increase the difficulty of scaling and thus significantly impede someone trying to gain access, or exit, if they have entered another way. It is relatively easy to install and can be reused or recycled when no longer needed.
Used extensively around prisons, land borders, military camps, electricity sub-stations, high voltage pylons, utility compounds, high-security hospitals and many other localities that require considerable security. It creates an impressive, material boundary that will act as a formidable deterrent as it can cause physical damage to the would-be trespasser.
When razor wire is correctly installed it is legal in the UK, however there may be restrictions for domestic use. The property owner needs to ensure the use of the products does not infringe criminal or civil law.
For longer length walls or fences, support brackets may be required to prevent the wire drooping and to attach it to the fence, these can be purchased separately from this website. Once in place, razor wire requires little to no maintenance.
Do not handle the wire without specialist gloves or gauntlets, face protection, and even body protection. Bare hands should never be used.
