This single wall lintel has been designed to support standard loads over a variety of opening sizes and is suitable for use on either internal or external walls which are 100mm wide. There are multiple small holes which run along the sides of the lintel which are used as a plaster key.
The BOX/K-100 lintels have been constructed from high quality pre-galvanised steel which is 2.0mm thick. The box lintels have been designed so that they are able to bear the weight of wet masonry as soon as it has been installed.
These lintels are available in 150mm increments starting at 1650mm up to 2700mm, allowing for load bearing support over a variety of gap sizes for a range of applications such as for windows or doors.
Please note: These lintels require 150mm end bearings at each end for correct installation. For example: if the gap that needs to be covered is 1650mm in length, then an additional 300mm will need to be added to the length of the lintel.
In order for this lintel to support the specified loads below, the lintel will need to be installed correctly. Care should also be taken to avoid shock loading on box lintels when used with concrete floors or any other heavy units.
The figures also take into account the different loading types which are common in traditional cavity wall construction. These figures have been acquired through testing in accordance with the requirements of standards BS 5977 Part 2: 1983 and BS EN 845-2:2003
If the bearing of a heavier load is required, we can also provide a heavy-duty load bearing box lintel (HDBOX/K-100).
