Starter clips are an essential and foundational component in the installation of WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) decking, particularly when using a hidden fastener system.  Available from First Fence in a handy 100-count pack.  The pack contains the clips, and the screws are also available in 100 packs.

The Purpose of Starter Clips

• Achieve a seamless look: By hiding the fasteners, starter clips create a smooth, consistent surface without visible screws or nails. 
• Provide stability: They anchor the first board securely, preventing shifting and ensuring proper alignment for subsequent boards. 
• Allow for expansion: Like other hidden fasteners, starter clips are designed to allow for the natural expansion and contraction of composite decking due to temperature changes. 
• Facilitate installation: They make the installation of the initial board easier, especially when the deck starts against a wall. 

How They Work

• Attachment: The starter clips are screwed into the underlying joists. 
• Board placement: The first composite deck board is then slotted or clicked into the clips. 
• Securing the board: The clip holds the board firmly in place and can be used to secure a bull-nosed board. 
• Finishing: Starter clips are also used for the final board of the run and to secure fascia and trim boards.
