Product Description

125/150mm x 2.1m Tanalised UC4 Timber Post

Using timber posts in combination with agricultural netting or wire mesh is a reliable method to secure livestock, protect crops, and mark property boundaries. This type of fencing is durable, cost-effective, and easy to install when the correct materials and techniques are used.

Benefits of Timber Posts with Agricultural Netting

  • Strong & Long-Lasting: Timber posts create a solid framework, while high-tensile netting resists stress and pressure.
  • Economical & Reliable: A budget-friendly alternative to metal fencing that offers excellent durability.
  • Easy to Install & Maintain: Requires basic tools and allows for simple adjustments when needed.
  • Versatile: Ideal for livestock enclosures, crop protection, and boundary marking.
  • Environmentally Sustainable: Made from responsibly sourced timber, with a lower energy footprint than steel alternatives.
  • Adaptable: Posts can be cut to size for specific projects, and individual posts can be replaced without dismantling the entire fence.

Cundy Peeled Pointed Strainer Post

Pointed strainer posts play a crucial role in fencing systems. They act as anchor points that maintain wire tension, ensuring the fence stays taut and stable, particularly in areas under high strain.

This post is made from pine and measures 2.1m in length with a diameter of 125–150mm, naturally tapered as it is debarked rather than machine-processed. The UC4 treatment makes it suitable for direct ground contact and extended outdoor exposure, the highest level of timber treatment for such applications.

The pointed end simplifies installation, allowing the post to be driven into soil more easily, even in compact or rocky ground. Posts are usually secured by backfilling with soil, gravel, or stones. For additional stability, concrete post mix can be used, and braces or struts may be added where extra support is required.

Typical Applications

This timber strainer post is suitable for a wide range of uses:

  • Livestock fencing
  • Farm and boundary fencing
  • Crop protection
  • Agricultural and farmyard fencing
  • Roadway fencing for animal control
  • Soil conservation and erosion prevention
  • Deer and game management

First Fence offers a large range of agricultural fencing products, including wire mesh fencing with badger, rabbit, equestrian and pheasant options, depending on the requirements of your project. Choose from turner posts and intermediate posts to complete your rural fencing. Add some high-tensile barbed wire for additional climb deterrence.
