Using timber posts with agricultural netting remains one of the most effective ways to secure farmland, manage livestock, protect crops, and mark out property lines. This fencing method is reliable, cost-efficient, and straightforward to put in place with the right equipment.
Pointed strainer posts are essential in fencing systems. Acting as anchor points, they hold the wire firmly in place, ensuring the fence remains tensioned and upright. Their strength is especially important in corners or high-pressure sections of the fence, helping to prevent sagging or movement over time.
Each post is made from pine, measuring 2.4m long with a diameter of 125mm–150mm. As these posts are naturally round and peeled rather than machine-turned, the thickness varies slightly along the length. The bark has been stripped away, leaving a smooth, natural timber finish.
These posts are treated to UC4 standard, the highest level of protection for timber in outdoor, ground-contact conditions. This ensures long service life and resistance to decay.
The pointed end makes driving the post into firm or stony soil much easier, reducing the need for extensive digging or heavy machinery. Installation can be done by backfilling with soil, gravel, or stone, or by setting in post mix concrete. For extra stability, struts or braces can be fitted.
Creosote is a traditional preservative that increases longevity and provides a dark, distinctive finish. However, it should not be used near food crops, water sources, livestock handling areas, or places with frequent human contact. Always follow safety and environmental regulations when handling creosote-treated timber.
