Closed board fencing, also referred to as feather edge fencing, provides full coverage and privacy. It consists of vertical boards that are firmly secured to horizontal rails attached to posts. This fencing style is highly valued for its durable construction, versatility, and effectiveness in creating a strong, private boundary.

Closed board fencing provides complete privacy with its tightly fitted boards that leave no gaps. Its sturdy construction also boosts security by blocking visibility and deterring climbing.

While traditionally constructed from timber, this fencing system also provides modern, eco-friendly options like recycled plastic. It is ideal for both DIY enthusiasts and professional contractors.

Introducing Recycled Plastic Closed Board Fencing

First Fence’s recycled plastic fencing is made from Plaswood, a durable material that mimics real wood while withstanding extreme weather, UV exposure, and moisture. Unlike natural wood, it won’t rot, warp, attract insects, or splinter. Both the fencing and its raw materials are rigorously tested for quality, and the recycling process repurposes waste into sustainable materials.

The 1.7m recycled plastic pale for closed board fencing is 1700mm high by 30mm x 100mm. The pales are available in both black and brown to match the other components of the system and are easily fixed in place with twin flight, parallel thread, coarse pitch screws, similar to those used with wooden particle boards or hi-low screws. Please note that fixings do not come with this product.

After installing the posts and horizontal rails to create the framework, the pales are attached. You will need 30 pales for each 3.1m section (28 standard pales and 2 centre pales) to achieve the classic closed board fence appearance.

This is a dig-in fencing system and requires one bag of post mix per post. It is recommended that posts are installed at 1.5m (+/- 50mm) post centre intervals.
