Build Your Recycled Plastic Picket Pale Fencing System

Recycled Plastic picket pale fencing is an ageless design made up of upright posts, horizontal rails and upright pales, creating a simple yet effective barrier. It is easily recognised for its simplicity and natural appeal and is ideal for anyone looking for a welcoming and lasting design.

First Fence's recycled plastic picket pale fencing is manufactured from Plaswood which is a recycled material using plastic that would otherwise have made its way to landfill sites. It replicates the look of real wood but is not similarly vulnerable to environmental factors such as fluctuating weather and temperature, rot, and insect infestation; additionally, it doesn't splinter. It is an ideal choice for those looking to enhance their property with a durable and low-maintenance solution that also benefits the environment.

This picket fencing is available from First Fence as a 1.2m high format, creating a medium-level structure that effectively marks borders and boundaries with a less intimidating look than many other wood or metal fencing styles. It is available with a choice of a flat top or dome top pale, and in a black or brown colour, making it ideal for blending in with an outdoor setting.

We suggest twin flight, parallel thread, coarse pitch screws similar to those used with wooden particle boards or hi-low screws to fix this system. Please note; these fixings do not come with the product.

Choose your components

To build your own recycled plastic picket fence system:

  • Choose the meterage of the area to be fenced.
  • Add the horizontal rails.
  • Add the posts. You will need two posts per bay and an end post.
  • Add the pales. Choose between a flat top pale and a dome top pale. Each 3.1m bay requires 18 pales plus 2 centre pales, based on 50mm gaps. The number of pales will change depending on the gap you wish to leave between each one.
  • You also need to add centre pales. This pale is longer than the others and sits touching the ground adding support to the fencing run. You need 2 per 3.1m bay (1 per 1.5m of fencing).
  • Add an end post to finish the run.

This is a dig-in format and needs post mix to secure it firmly into the ground; we suggest one bag per post. Posts should be dug 500mm into the ground and set at 1.5m post centres. We suggest twin flight, parallel thread, coarse pitch screws or hi-low screws to fix this system.

Leave a 100mm gap between the ground and the bottom of the pales. A gap of at least 20mm should be left between the horizontal rails for thermal linear expansion.

Once your recycled plastic picket pale fence has been installed, it does not require maintenance; however, it is always a good idea to check the fixings of any fencing from time to time to make sure it is performing optimally.

This system is available in black or brown.

First Fence has an extensive line of recycled plastic products, including knee rail fencing, post and rail, mortised post and rail and domestic fencing. If you prefer a real wood product, take a look at our wooden knee rail, post and rail, acoustic fencing and standard timber fencing panels.
