Product Description

Timber Intermediate Strainer Post Kit to Suit 150cm to 190cm Fencing Creosoted

Timber posts combined with stock netting deliver a strong, natural fencing solution for farms, estates, and rural settings. Designed with traditional methods and built for durability, they provide reliable performance in outdoor conditions year after year.

Benefits of Timber Posts & Stock Fencing

  • Strength & Endurance: Timber posts form a solid frame, while high-tensile netting resists strain effectively.
  • Affordable Option: A cost-effective alternative to metal fencing that still guarantees durability.
  • Quick Installation & Low Upkeep: Requires only basic tools and is simple to maintain or adjust.
  • Flexible Use: Works well for livestock enclosures, crop protection, or boundary marking.
  • Sustainable Material: Made from responsibly sourced timber with a smaller environmental footprint than steel.

About the Intermediate Strainer Post Kit

Intermediate strainers are a vital part of agricultural fencing. More robust than ordinary line posts, they handle wire tension and maintain the fence’s shape. Positioned at intervals along the run, they provide the stability needed for long-term performance.

This kit contains:

  • One 2.4m x 150/175mm strainer post
  • Two 2.4m x 75/100mm struts

Each post is created using the Cundy peel process, which strips away bark but preserves the wood’s natural taper, giving a rustic, varied diameter.

The angled struts brace the main post, preventing leaning or shifting under pressure. Typically, strainers are secured with backfill, while struts are best set in quick-drying concrete, such as post mix, for added strength.

Creosoted Finish Explained

UC4 timber treatment ensures posts are safe for use directly in soil. Creosoted timber, however, uses a creosote preservative for enhanced longevity. It should not be placed near water, food crops, or areas with frequent contact with animals or people. Some regions also have restrictions on their use due to environmental regulations.

Common Applications

Creosoted timber posts are ideal for:

  • Livestock fencing
  • Farm and estate boundaries
  • Walking trails
  • Garden or perimeter fencing
  • Tree supports and landscaping projects

Timber is a trusted choice for outdoor use thanks to its strength, ease of handling, and dependable durability, especially practical in remote or rural locations.

Alongside this kit, First Fence supplies a wide selection of agricultural fencing, including wire stock fencing rolls, high tensile barbed wire, and timber rail fencing systems such as knee rail or post-and-rail. For a more sustainable option, explore our recycled plastic fencing, which combines the look of timber with superior strength, longevity, and eco benefits.
