Product Description

Timber Intermediate Strainer Post Kit to Suit 180cm One Inch Netting

Our timber posts and stock fencing provide a natural and durable solution for agricultural and rural fencing requirements, bringing together the strength and reliability of long-lasting materials with the timeless appeal and quality of traditional craftsmanship to ensure dependable performance in demanding outdoor environments.

Benefits of Using Timber Posts & Stock Fencing

Strong & Long-Lasting: Timber posts create a sturdy framework, while high-tensile netting resists pressure effectively.
Budget-Friendly: A more economical choice than metal fencing, yet built for durability.
Simple to Install & Maintain: Requires few tools and allows for easy adjustments when needed.
Multi-Purpose: Ideal for containing livestock, protecting crops, and marking property boundaries.
Environmentally Friendly: Made from sustainable timber, requiring less energy to produce than metal alternatives.

Intermediate Strainer Post Kit

Intermediate strainer posts play a vital role in agricultural fencing. Stronger and more durable than standard line posts, they are built to withstand wire tension and preserve the fence’s structure. When placed at key points along the fence line, they enhance overall stability and support long-term durability.

This intermediate strainer post kit contains one 2.4m x 125/150mm strainer post and two 2.4m x 75/100mm struts. Crafted using the Cundy peeling method, which strips the bark while retaining the wood’s natural taper, each piece has a rustic appearance with a varying diameter along its length (e.g. 150/175mm). The timber is tanalised and pressure-treated to UC4 standards or creosoted, offering durable, long-term protection against rot, fungal decay, and insect damage.

Struts are angled supports installed between the strainer post and the ground to provide crucial reinforcement, preventing the post from leaning or being pulled out of position under tension. Traditionally, strainer posts are driven into the ground and secured with backfill, while struts are typically set in concrete using a quick-setting product like post mix for added stability.

Application

This type of wooden fence post is ideal for livestock fencing, hiking trails, farm property boundaries and also in non-agricultural settings.  Agricultural, garden or security fencing, tree support helping to secure young trees, landscaping etc. Timber is a strong material and is durable and long-lasting in outdoor settings.  It is relatively easy to handle and install, which is useful in rural or remote areas.

First Fence offers a large range of agricultural fencing products, including wire stock fencing rolls and high tensile barbed wire.  Our range of timber railing systems is a popular method of fencing, with a rustic feel and blending well with its location.  Choose from knee rail fencing or post and rail fencing.  Our recycled plastic fencing solutions offer the look of wood with superior strength, longevity and sustainability, with knee rail, picket pale and closed board options available.
