Product Description

Timber Intermediate Strainer Post Kit to Suit 180cm One Inch Netting Creosoted

Timber fencing posts paired with stock netting deliver a tough yet natural solution for rural and agricultural needs. Combining long-lasting materials with traditional craftsmanship, they provide both strength and classic appeal, perfect for demanding outdoor conditions.

Advantages of Timber Posts & Stock Fencing

  • Durable Support: Timber posts form a solid framework, while high-tensile netting holds up under strain.
  • Cost-Effective: Less expensive than steel alternatives but equally dependable.
  • Easy Handling: Quick to install with minimal tools, and straightforward to maintain.
  • Versatile Use: Suitable for protecting crops, containing livestock, or marking boundaries.
  • Eco-Friendly: Produced from responsibly sourced timber, with lower energy use compared to metal fencing.

What’s in the Intermediate Strainer Post Kit?

Intermediate strainer posts are key to a strong fence line. Heavier-duty than standard posts, they carry wire tension and prevent sagging or leaning. Positioned at intervals, they keep the fence stable and secure over time.

This kit contains:

  • One 2.4m x 125/150mm strainer post
  • Two 2.4m x 75/100mm support struts

The timber is prepared using the Cundy peel method, leaving each post with a rustic taper and natural variation in diameter. Posts are either UC4 pressure-treated or creosoted, ensuring protection against decay, fungi, and insect damage.

The angled struts brace the main post, resisting movement under pressure. Strainer posts are usually backfilled in place, while struts are commonly set in quick-drying concrete such as post mix for added strength.

Creosoted Timber Finish

Creosote treatment offers robust, long-lasting protection. However, it should not be used near water, food-producing areas, or in contact with people and animals. Be aware that local regulations may restrict its use in some environments.

Typical Applications

These posts are a reliable option for:

  • Farm boundaries and livestock fencing
  • Public footpaths and trail marking
  • Garden and security fencing
  • Landscaping and tree supports

Timber’s natural resilience and straightforward installation make it ideal for outdoor and rural locations.

Alongside this kit, First Fence stocks a wide variety of agricultural fencing, from wire stock netting and high tensile barbed wire to timber post-and-rail systems. For a sustainable option, our recycled plastic fencing mimics wood but offers greater strength, longevity, and eco-credentials.
