Product Description

Timber End Strainer Post Kit to Suit 80cm to 120cm Fencing Creosoted

End strainer kits are essential for creating strong, stable fencing systems. Positioned at the ends of fence lines, corners, or gate areas, these posts handle the highest tension and ensure the fence remains secure over time. Built from quality timber using traditional methods, they deliver both durability and a natural appearance, perfect for agricultural and rural settings.

Benefits of Timber Posts & Stock Fencing

  • Strong & Reliable: Timber posts form a sturdy base, paired with high-tensile netting for excellent pressure resistance.
  • Cost-Effective: More affordable than steel while still providing long-lasting performance.
  • Simple Setup & Maintenance: Easy to install with minimal tools and straightforward to maintain.
  • Multi-Purpose: Ideal for livestock fencing, crop protection, and boundary marking.
  • Sustainable Choice: Produced from responsibly sourced timber, with a lower energy footprint than metal alternatives.

About the End Strainer Post Kit

End strainer posts are a heavier-duty solution designed for points of high stress along a fence, such as ends, corners, and gate openings. By anchoring the fence at these points, they help maintain tension and prevent sagging.

This kit includes:

  • One 2.4m x 150/175mm end strainer post
  • One 2.4m x 75/100mm angled strut

Each post is Cundy peeled, a method that removes the bark while keeping the timber’s natural taper and rustic character. Because of this, diameters vary along the post length (e.g. 150/175mm). The timber is treated to UC4 standards or finished with creosote, giving lasting protection against rot, insects, and fungal attack.

The angled strut braces the main post, preventing leaning or displacement under pressure. Typically, strainer posts are driven into the ground and backfilled, while struts are secured using quick-drying concrete such as post mix for added stability.

Common Applications

These posts are suitable for:

  • Livestock fencing
  • Farm or estate boundaries
  • Public footpaths and trails
  • Garden or perimeter fencing
  • Tree supports and landscaping

Timber is naturally strong, long-lasting outdoors, and easy to handle, making it an excellent choice, even in remote rural areas.

Alongside these kits, First Fence stocks a wide range of agricultural fencing: from wire netting rolls and barbed wire to timber rail systems such as knee rail and post-and-rail. For a greener alternative, our recycled plastic fencing offers the look of wood with superior strength, durability, and sustainability.
