Product Description

Timber End Strainer Post Kit to Suit 60cm to 120cm One Inch Netting Creosoted

End strainer posts are a vital component in agricultural fencing, providing strong support where the fence terminates, such as at gates, corners, or directional changes. Designed to carry the greatest levels of tension, these posts keep the structure stable and reliable over time, making them essential for secure livestock enclosures and farm boundaries.

Benefits of Timber Posts & Stock Fencing

  • Robust & Long-Lasting: Timber posts create a dependable framework, while high-tensile netting resists pressure effectively.
  • Cost-Effective: A more affordable solution compared to steel, yet engineered to endure.
  • Simple to Install & Maintain: Requires only basic tools and is straightforward to adjust when needed.
  • Versatile: Suitable for animal fencing, crop protection, and property demarcation.
  • Sustainable Choice: Produced from responsibly sourced timber, with lower energy usage than metal alternatives.

About the End Strainer Post Kit

End strainer posts are built for points of high stress, ends, corners, and changes of direction along the fence line. By absorbing tension, they prevent leaning and help maintain the fence’s integrity.

This kit includes:

  • One 2.1m x 125/150mm strainer post
  • One 2.4m x 75/100mm angled strut

Both pieces are Cundy peeled, a process that removes bark while retaining the timber’s natural taper and rustic look. This method results in varying diameters (e.g. 125/150mm), giving each post a unique finish. The timber is either UC4 pressure-treated or creosoted to resist rot, decay, and insect damage.

The strut is positioned diagonally between the post and the ground to brace it against tension. Typically, strainer posts are driven into the soil and backfilled, while struts are set in place using quick-drying concrete such as post mix for greater stability.

Creosote Finish

Offers enhanced preservation but should not be used near water sources, edible plants, or areas with frequent human or animal contact. Regulations may limit its use in certain regions.

Applications

This kit is designed for fencing between 60cm and 120cm high with one-inch mesh spacing, making it suitable for:

  • Livestock fencing
  • Farm boundaries
  • Footpaths and hiking trails
  • Security or garden fencing
  • Tree supports and landscaping projects

Timber is naturally durable, simple to handle, and reliable outdoors, making it particularly useful in rural or remote locations.

In addition to these kits, First Fence offers a full range of agricultural fencing products, including barbed wire, stock netting rolls, and timber rail systems such as knee rail and post-and-rail fencing. For a sustainable alternative, explore our recycled plastic fencing, designed to look like timber but with added strength, resilience, and eco benefits.
