Product Description

Timber End Strainer Post Kit to Suit 150cm to 190cm Fencing Creosoted

A secure fence starts with strong support. Our Cundy peeled timber end strainer kits are designed to reinforce the ends of fencing runs, gates, and corners—areas where tension is at its highest. Built from durable timber and finished with long-lasting treatments, these kits provide a reliable solution for agricultural and rural fencing projects.

Benefits of Timber Posts & Stock Fencing

  • Durable & Resilient: Timber posts form a solid framework, while high-tensile wire resists strain.
  • Cost-Effective: More affordable than metal fencing but still designed for longevity.
  • Simple to Install: Requires only basic tools, with easy maintenance and adjustments.
  • Multi-Use: Suitable for livestock fencing, crop protection, and marking boundaries.
  • Sustainable Choice: Made from responsibly sourced timber, using less energy than steel production.

What’s in the Kit?

This end strainer kit includes:

  • 1 x 3.0m x 150/175mm end strainer post
  • 1 x 2.7m x 75/100mm strut

Each post is Cundy peeled, a method that removes the bark while retaining a natural taper, giving the timber a rustic appearance and non-uniform diameter (e.g. 150/175mm). The wood is tanalised to UC4 standards or creosoted, ensuring protection from decay, fungi, and insect attack.

Struts act as diagonal braces between the post and ground, preventing leaning or movement under wire tension. Typically, the strainer post is driven into the ground and backfilled, while the strut is secured with quick-setting concrete such as post mix for added strength.

Applications

This kit is ideal for stock fencing between 150cm and 190cm high, and can be used for:

  • Livestock fencing and enclosures
  • Farm or estate boundary marking
  • Rural pathways and trails
  • Gardens, security fencing, and landscaping projects

Timber is strong, easy to handle, and built to last outdoors, making it particularly suited for rural or remote environments.

At First Fence, we stock a wide range of agricultural fencing supplies, from wire mesh and barbed wire to timber railing systems. We also offer recycled plastic fencing, providing the look of wood with enhanced strength and sustainability.
