How Do I Use the First Fence MUGA Calculator?

How Do I Use the First Fence MUGA Calculator?
Building a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) for sports and recreation takes some coordinating, concentration, and maths! First Fence created a MUGA Calculator to help make the process easier. If you’re new to our calculator, keep reading to find out how to use it effectively.

Before You Make a Purchase

Before using the MUGA calculator, you will need to measure the area the MUGA will be installed in metres. We also recommend ensuring the ground is suitable for dig-in installation, and the right flooring is available to you. As we specialise in fencing and gates, we are not able to include the ground in our quotes.

Also, lead times apply depending on stock levels, so this should be taken into consideration.

Step 1: Getting the Perfect Fit

To ensure the calculator quotes the right number of panels and posts, you will need to add the length and width in metres to the fields. Each panel is about 2560mm wide, and the calculator will take this into account for you, so you don’t need to work out how many you need.

Please note that all fencing and gates are 3 metres high and are for dig-in installation only. Post mix is available, and will need to be added separately.

Step 2: Colour Selection

Many of the MUGAs are installed in schools or parks, so colour is a must. Our fencing and gates are made of pre-galvanised steel, and are coloured with Polyester Powder Coating (PPC). This coating protects the metal from corrosion and rust. If you need to top up the colour where any scratches or cuts to the metal occur, you can find our spray cans here in matching colours.

Our MUGA fencing and gates are available in these RAL colours:

  • Green
  • Black
  • Red
  • Blue
  • Yellow
  • Grey
  • White

We can also look at creating a custom colour for your MUGA if your customer prefers. Contact us for a quote.

Step 3: Entrance

We have three entrance options available for your MUGA, including:

  • Offset: This is an additional panel that can be installed near a gap in the fencing to create an opening. Four extra panels with clamp bars and end posts will be added to your quote if this is selected.
  • Gate: These are 1200mm wide single leaf gates. If this option is selected, two gates will be added to the calculator.
  • None: a welcoming and open space in the fencing for users to enter and exit the MUGA.

Step 4: Extras

The calculator will automatically include corner and end posts. If you need more, these can be added to your basket separately.

Two goals will also be included in the calculated quote. These can be increased or decreased as needed.
