Please note, this kit does not come with fixings. For loose kits you will need 8 M10 x 150mm Coach Screws and 250 64mm stainless steel nails. For Assembled panels you will need 8 M10 x 150mm Coach Screws (for timber) or 6 x M10 x 70mm Coach Bolts and nuts (for steel), and 10 64mm stainless steel nails for the capping.

Noise, characterised as unwanted sound, has the potential to disrupt many things, communication, leisure activities, and, in severe cases, lead to hearing loss or mental health issues. Timber structures and barriers can serve as highly effective sound reflectors and absorbers, playing an essential role in reducing noise levels across various applications. This type of barrier type blends with a variety of exterior designs, delivering an appealing, cosy, and welcoming aesthetic.

The 2.4m EchoReflect Reflective Acoustic Fencing Kit from First Fence operates by reflecting noise off its profile. The kit is supplied in loose form and can be conveniently assembled on-site. It is also available as a pre-assembled product. The acoustic screen kit features a meticulously designed profile that, when correctly installed, eliminates gaps, preventing sound transmission.

Features and Benefits

These acoustic barriers work by reflecting noise off their carefully designed profile, consisting of vertical sawn boards, cover strips, and secured using horizontal timber rails to minimise any gaps through which sound could travel. These barriers are available in loose kit form for on-site construction or as a pre-assembled form.

These panels can be assembled using either wooden posts or steel posts, depending on your site requirements.

The Timber Acoustic Fencing Kits offer a straightforward solution for homeowners, house builders, local authorities and indeed anyone dealing with traffic noise issues. Ideal for busy areas or businesses where excessive noise is unwanted.

The system has undergone independent testing by Salford University, meeting Highways England requirements (BS EN 1793 Road Traffic Noise Reducing Devices). It is also compliant with BS EN 1794-1 and BS EN 1794-2, aligning with Highways Sector Scheme 2C for the prefabrication of environmental barriers.

Manufactured from Tanalised, pressure-treated timber from an FSC certified supplier, this wood has a natural pale green colour that blends seamlessly with its surroundings.

Delivered in loose kit form, each kit contains Straight Boards, Timber Gravel Board, Capping Rail, Horizontal Rail and Cover Strips. Choose between a timber post kit or an IPE Steel post (steel post comes with wooden wedges). Please note, this kit does not come with fixings.

Installation itself is straightforward, once the posts are in place (2.4m centres), face fix the cant rails onto the posts at an equal spacing, securing using stainless steel nails. Now the main support structure is in place you can attach the vertical boards, the boards need to be nailed onto the cant rails butted up to each other. Cover strips then need to be attached over the joints where the panels butt up together using stainless steel nails (64mm). Finally, attach the capping rail with stainless steel nails to the top of the fence to provide a neat finish and allow water to shed in the direction of the post.

The timber acoustic barriers boast a manufacturer-offered 30-year desired service life and are designed to be maintenance-free with correct installation. These panels can be painted with a breathable stain or paint. It is recommended that any vegetation is cut down where the acoustic fencing is to be installed. Do not install where they may sit in water. Check with a structural engineer for wind loading for your specific location.

These panels not only enhance aesthetics but also provide an effective solution for addressing excessive and unwanted noise in various applications, including residential, education, transport, commercial, and industrial sectors. In addition to noise management, acoustic fence panels offer increased privacy and a more aesthetically pleasing alternative to industrial-styled security fencing.
