Creosolve Wood Treatment - 4L
Product Description
Creosolve Wood Treatment - 4L
Wooden Railway Sleepers are often used in landscaping projects as they are extremely durable and have a rustic appeal. Being exposed to the elements and contact with the ground may lead to deterioration over time, so to maintain the lifespan of outdoor timber surfaces, it is recommended that they are treated with a quality wood treatment product. It's the perfect product for enhancing and prolonging the life of your garden furniture and accessories.
Creosolve is a modern, more environmentally-friendly replacement for the traditional creosote fence and timber paint and is available in a light brown and dark brown option. It does not contain biocides or preservatives; however, it is very high in VOCs (volatile organic compounds), so it should be used in a well-ventilated area.
Creosolve is an oil-based Creosote substitute that is ideal for exterior timber, particularly rough timber such as sheds, fences or barns. It can be brush or spray-applied; however, this product is not suitable for use on decking or exterior wooden furniture.
Preparation
Timber surfaces that are to be treated need to be clean and dry. Any mould or surface contaminants should be removed before application. It is good practice to give the wood surface a clean-up with a stiff-bristled brush to remove any accumulated dirt. This product should only be used on bare wood; any surface coating of varnish or paint should be removed by sanding back to bare wood. If there is any sign of woodworm and insect attack, mould, algae or rot, this will need dealing with using an appropriate insect killer or treatment.
Application & Precautions
Always perform a test patch before beginning a project and follow the wood treatment manufacturer's instructions on the container. The liquid and vapour are flammable, so keep away from heat, hot surfaces, open flames and do not smoke while using. Do not ingest. It may be a good idea to use gloves and other protective clothing while using this product. Apply the product with a brush and allow 24 hours to dry. For best results, it is best to apply two coats to avoid any patchiness in the finish.
The age, type and surface condition of the timber may affect the colour finish considerably, and it will darken with multiple coats of Creosolve. This wood treatment is ideal for use with the Railway Sleepers available from First Fence.
