One method of fixing a post is by bolting it down. This is a quick and simple method, yet over time and with the stress put on the bolts, the drilled holes can weaken and break down and the post will no longer be safe; if a gate is attached to it then this situation becomes a hazard.
Resin or Chemical fixings are a superior way of fixing your posts to the ground. They form a very stable and watertight bond that fits the shape of the hole that has been drilled. However, preparation is important when using these and we have put together a kit to help you get the job done!
The Quick Install Resin Kit for M8, M12 or M16 Bolts contains:
For the best and most long-lasting result, preparation is key, as resin anchors are less forgiving of poor installation technique.
Once the bolt hole has been drilled with a masonry drill bit (included in the kit) it is very important that it is cleaned thoroughly. If the resin mixes with dust and debris, then the bond may fail. By using the Injection Resin Cleaning Brush, you can thoroughly scrub the hole of any loose masonry, then use the Blow Out Pump to remove it from the hole.
The Blow Out Pump works like a bike pump, you simply place the nozzle into the hole and plunge the handle up and down; it is probably a good idea to wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from anything that is dispersed from the drilled hole.
Once the hole is clear of dust, it is ready for the resin to be inserted and then the bolt inserted and twisted into place.
The heavy duty resin applicator gun can be used with the resin cartridges from First Fence, and is durable in heavy, demanding situations.
It has a manual operation with a tactile spring trigger and can be used for a variety of fastening applications including concrete and masonry. It is easy to load and will dispense resin in a very controlled manner.
