Bow Top railings and gates exhibit a classic, sophisticated style characterised by a distinct curved feature at the top of the rail line, tracing its origins to the 19th century. Historically, these were used to enclose gardens, parks, and residential spaces, offering a barrier without an overwhelming presence. Initially fashioned from wrought iron, materials like steel or aluminium are now commonly used, prioritising durability and ease of maintenance.
First Fence boasts a diverse range of railings, including the Bow Top variety, and has expanded its offerings to include the EnviroRail® range, encompassing railing bays and gates. The gates are available in various widths and heights, adaptable for different ground types, making them suitable for most environments. A crucial step before purchase involves a ground assessment to ensure the right fit. For guidance, contacting the sales team at 01283 512111 is recommended.
The EnviroRail® Bow Top Double Leaf Gate Kit, measuring 0.9m in height and 5.0m in width, offers exceptional flexibility in controlling access. It grants the choice of one or both leaves in open or closed positions, providing versatile functionality.
Although this gate kit may resemble a standard bow top product, its standout feature lies in its environmentally conscious manufacturing process. Employing a low-weld technique, it utilises custom-made, laser-cut pre-galvanised elements that form robust connections when pressed together. This innovation significantly reduces reliance on welding, an energy and resource-intensive process. If prioritising minimal environmental impact during gate production is a concern, this option might be ideal for you.
Each EnviroRail® kit is comprised of hollow tubular sections. These hollow tubes provide an incredibly high level of strength whilst helping to keep the weight to a minimum, making handling, transport and installation much easier.
The EnviroRail® Double Gates present a fully modular and relatively lightweight solution, facilitating easy installation for various hardware requirements. With a universal hand, they offer on-site flexibility without fixed left or right-hand specifications. The modular functionality gives adjustability in case the gates move, which fixed hardware doesn't give.
Each gate arrives pre-drilled, simplifying the attachment of six adjustable hinges and a drop bolt. Included plastic hole plugs cover any unused holes on the attack face. a locking drop bolt is available as an add-on purchase and is recommended for a double leaf gate.
The kit includes two EnviroRail® gate leaves, two gate posts, and six adjustable gate eyes (three for each leaf), meeting BS 12604 safety guidelines to ensure stability even if a hinge fails. Additionally, gate hooks are fully welded to the gate post, these are fixed axis hinges with no up or down movement.
Offered in various heights and widths, gate kits come in dig-in and bolt-down versions, suitable for installation in diverse locations. The dig-in variant suits softer terrain like grass and soil, requiring Post Mix for secure installation, while the bolt-down option suits harder ground surfaces such as concrete, using eight M16 x 125mm anchor bolts which can be included in your order.
Beyond gate kits, First Fence also offers EnviroRail® Railings, Estate Railings, and Gates. Enhance security by considering a heavy-duty padlock as an additional measure.
