Understanding SR1 (A1) Rated Security Fencing and Gates

The Profence® security mesh product line represents First Fence's premier selection of security-rated products. These products have undergone intensive testing and certification to meet the exacting LPS 1175 SR1 (A1) standards.

This certification attests that the product provides essential one-minute resistance against intrusion attempts using items from Toolkit A. Toolkit A consists of discreet tools such as glass cutters, pliers, spanners, non-metallic rope, and bolt cutters - small hand-held items, that are easily concealed and be used by someone targeting high-value properties. This essential sixty-second delay proves invaluable by giving security teams the time needed to detect and swiftly respond to potential breaches, potentially deterring criminals from stealing valuable assets or causing damage.

First Fence's Profence® collection offers fence kits in both 358 Prison Mesh and 868 Twin Mesh, providing various height options. Additionally, our expertly designed double and single gates enhance the Profence® fencing system. This product range has rightfully earned its place in the Red Book, a testament to the rigorous SR1 testing.

Features and Benefits

First Fence's security-rated 358 mesh gate, featuring a double-leaf configuration, is made from hot-dipped galvanised steel and further toughened with a durable polyester powder coating. This coating offers protection against rust, corrosion, damage, vandalism, and general daily wear and tear. Moreover, it is available in a range of RAL colours. This additional layer not only enhances product longevity but can also be customised to align with your corporate branding, imparting a sleek and professional appearance to your fencing system and gate.

The gate incorporates the distinctive 358 Mesh, also known as Prison Mesh due to its use in high security facilities. This exceptionally robust wire mesh features a narrow pattern that impedes object passage while making scaling or cutting attempts exceedingly challenging for intruders. However, it enables efficient perimeter monitoring, making it particularly suitable for scenarios where clear visibility is paramount, especially when integrated with CCTV systems.

The gate kit includes six adjustable gate eyes, ensuring that even in the unlikely event of a single hinge failure, the gate will remain secure, thus preventing accidents, damage, or injuries. Each adjustable gate eye bolt is firmly secured with a snap-off nut, mitigating the risk of post-installation tampering. Two Drop Bolts enhance the security of your security-rated double gate.

Easy Installation

The installation of this accredited security gate is relatively straightforward and sticks to that of a standard mesh gate. You can either root fix it into the ground or secure with ground anchor bolts.

First Fence's SR1-rated mesh gate kit is available in both dig-in and bolt-down formats, accommodating a very broad range of ground conditions. It is essential to assess your ground conditions at your intended installation site before making your purchase, as this will determine the appropriate kit variant. Soft soil or turfed areas will need the dig-in option, while concrete or solid ground demands bolt-down posts.

The bolt-down kit includes essential ground anchor bolts. If you opt for the dig-in kit, consider adding Post Mix to your order, with a recommended four bags per post for a sturdy installation. Post Mix is also available in larger bulk quantities if needed. You should use either C20 or C25 post mix.

This gate boasts a substantial width, being the largest in this height range, catering to both pedestrian access and vehicles. The sliding latch bolt securely maintains the leaves closed, while the drop bolts ensure their steadfast positioning. You retain the flexibility to open one or both leaves according to your specific site requirements.

A recommended range of approved Secure By Design (SBD) padlocks is available.
