Understanding SR1 (A1) Rated Security Fencing and Gates

The ProFence® security mesh product line represents the height of First Fence's current line-up of security-rated products. These items have undergone significant testing and certification to meet the stringent standards of LPS 1175 SR1 (A1).

This certification validates that our products provide a crucial one-minute resistance against intrusion attempts using Toolkit A, consisting of small, hand-held tools such as glass cutters, pliers, spanners, non-metallic rope, and bolt cutters – easily concealable tools frequently employed by individuals targeting high-value properties. This crucial sixty-second delay proves invaluable by affording security teams the time needed to promptly detect and respond to potential breaches, potentially deterring criminals from stealing valuable assets or causing harm.

First Fence's ProFence® assortment offers fence kits in both 358 Prison Mesh and 868 Twin Mesh, providing a range of height options. Additionally, our expertly crafted double and single gates complement the ProFence® fencing system. This product range has earned its rightful place in the Red Book, a testament to the rigorous SR1 testing.

Features and Benefits

First Fence's security-rated 358 mesh gate, featuring a double-leaf configuration, is constructed from hot-dipped galvanised steel and further strengthened with a durable polyester powder coating. This coating not only protects against rust, corrosion, damage, vandalism, and daily wear and tear but also provides the option of a variety of RAL colours for customisation to align with your corporate branding, imparting a sleek and professional appearance to your fencing system and gate.

The gate incorporates the distinctive 358 Mesh, also known as Prison Mesh due to its use in high-security settings. This exceptionally robust wire mesh features a narrow pattern that obstructs object passage while making climbing or cutting attempts exceedingly challenging for intruders. However, it allows for efficient perimeter monitoring, making it particularly suitable for scenarios where clear visibility is paramount, especially when integrated with CCTV systems.

The gate kit includes six adjustable gate eyes, ensuring that even in the unlikely event of a single hinge failure, the gate will remain secure, thereby preventing accidents, damage, or injuries. Each adjustable gate eye bolt is firmly secured with a snap-off nut, mitigating the risk of post-installation tampering. Two Drop Bolts enhance the security of your security-rated double gate.

Simple Installation

The installation of this accredited security gate is relatively straightforward and follows that of a standard mesh gate in that you can choose to cement-fix it into the ground or secure it with heavy-duty ground anchor bolts.

First Fence's SR1-rated mesh gate kit is available in both dig-in and bolt-down formats, accommodating a wide range of ground conditions. It is crucial to assess the ground conditions at your intended installation site before making your purchase, as this will determine the appropriate kit variant. Soft soil or turfed areas will require the dig-in option, while concrete or solid ground demands bolt-down posts.

The bolt-down kit includes essential ground anchor bolts. If you opt for the dig-in kit, consider adding Post Mix to your order, with a recommended four bags per post for a sturdy installation. Post Mix is also available in larger bulk quantities if needed. You should use either C20 or C25 post mix.

This gate boasts a substantial width, making it the largest in this height range, catering to both pedestrian access and vehicles. The sliding latch bolt securely maintains the leaves closed, while the drop bolts ensure their steadfast positioning. You retain the flexibility to open one or both leaves according to your specific site requirements.

A recommended range of approved Secure By Design (SBD) padlocks is available.
