A mechanical fixing is a quick and efficient way of bolting down a gate post, however over time and with daily opening and closing, the hole you drilled may crack or crumble, particularly if the ground is not stable. The bolt will then not be secure, and this will mean that your gate is unsafe.
A better choice for longevity is a resin or chemical fixing. They exert low stress on the base material so can be used at closer spacing and edge distances. They bond with the irregular shape of the drilled hole and effectively transfer stress load along the whole length of this bond, and they can provide a solution when a mechanical anchor won’t, particularly in weaker masonry.
This product is a chisel point chemical anchor stud and is suitable for use with resin anchor systems. It is 80mm in diameter, 110mm in length and manufactured from galvanised steel which gives it a layer of protection making it suitable for a range of applications. It also includes a nut and washer.
Preparation is key when fitting a resin anchor stud and removing the loose material is essential. First Fence carry a range of accessories for this job including a hole cleaning brush, blow out pump, resin cartridges and applicator gun.
