The Ultimate Guide to Recycled Plastic Fencing
In this blog, we examine the various types of recycled plastic fencing, detail their manufacturing processes, discuss their diverse applications, and highlight the numerous benefits of choosing sustainable fencing solutions. Whether you're looking for low-maintenance garden fencing, eco-friendly agricultural barriers, or durable commercial enclosures, our range of recycled plastic fencing offers exceptional advantages tailored to meet a variety of needs.

How Is Recycled Plastic Fencing Made?

Creating sustainable fencing solutions starts with transforming plastic waste into strong, attractive, and long-lasting materials. Here’s a behind-the-scenes of how recycled plastic fencing is made:

  1. Plastic waste arrives at Dumfries recycling and remanufacturing facility.
  2. The material undergoes a thorough quality check to ensure it meets our standards.
  3. All plastics are shredded into manageable pieces.
  4. The shredded material is then washed to remove odours and contaminants. Our closed-loop washing system reuses water, reducing usage by up to 90% compared to virgin plastic production.
  5. The clean plastic flakes (crumb) are dried and checked again for quality.
  6. Once approved, the plastic is melted and blended using carefully selected ingredients to enhance strength and durability.
  7. The blend is quality-checked before extrusion.
  8. The molten material is extruded into Plaswood profiles – our high-quality recycled plastic lumber.
  9. Profiles are allowed to rest and cool to maintain structural integrity.
  10. Each profile undergoes rigorous testing and inspection to meet technical and aesthetic standards.
  11. Once approved, the profiles are ready for use in a variety of fencing styles.

Benefits of Recycled Plastic Fencing

Choosing recycled plastic fencing is more than an environmental decision – it's a smart investment in performance and longevity.

1. Durability That Lasts

Our fencing withstands extreme weather conditions and resists rot, rust, insects, splintering, and cracking. It's ideal for long-term, hassle-free performance.

2. Environmentally Friendly

Made from 100% recycled plastic, our fencing helps divert plastic waste from landfills. Plus, it looks like real wood but lasts far longer – without deforestation.

3. Low Maintenance

No painting, staining, or sealing required. A simple wash with soap and water keeps your fencing looking great year after year.

4. Versatility in Design

Available in a variety of colours, finishes, and profiles, our plastic fencing can be customised to suit both contemporary and traditional landscapes.

5. Cost-Effective Over Time

While the upfront cost may be slightly higher than timber, the low maintenance and long lifespan make our fencing a budget-friendly solution in the long run.
