What is the SSA?

The mission of SSA UK is to::

• Establish industry standards
• Advocate for the self-storage sector in the UK
• Conduct and provide industry-specific research
• Serve as a lobbying platform to represent the industry's interests to regulatory bodies
• Facilitate networking, discussion, and debate among members through events, including the annual conference and regional meetings
• Raise awareness of the benefits of self-storage and promote best practices within the industry

SSA UK represents over 600 storage operators and suppliers, with membership growth reflecting the expansion of the sector. Across the UK, there are approximately 2,231 self-storage facilities, offering around 55.5 million square feet of storage space (Source: Cushman & Wakefield/SSA UK 2023).

What this means for First Fence: 

• Be involved in evolving security standards for self storage
• Help members with trusted advice and support with perimeter fencing and gates
• Share previous lessons learnt and good practices with new self-storage sites
