An Acrow Prop is also known as an Adjustable Steel Prop, Jack Post, Acrow Jack, Shore Prop and Post Shore. They all refer to a method of vertically supporting a load-bearing wall while a new door or window is cut in, or when repair work is carried out. They ensure that structures do not collapse onto anyone working beneath them.
This is a standard piece of equipment that is used extensively throughout the construction industry and is very versatile. Acrow Props are manufactured from galvanised steel, so they are very tough and hard-wearing. They are reusable, so they are a very cost-effective equipment investment.
Features & Benefits
These sturdy supports are made from two steel tubes that together have a telescopic action, so they can extend in length. The Size 3 has an extended length of 3950mm. Other sizes are also available, as is a Propmate, which works alongside the Acrow Prop.
The Acrow Prop consists of a threaded inner tube with a square top plate, a threaded outer tube with a square base plate, and a collar, handle and pin. The thread allows quick length adjustment, and the pin stops the tubes from collapsing inside each other when supporting a load. The threaded collar has a winding handle to tighten into the final position.
Acrow props are manufactured to BS4074:1982 and tested to BS5507-3:1982 for optimum safety.
