A robust, metal Farm Gate is a mainstay of an agricultural business for controlling access of vehicles and pedestrians and for keeping valuable livestock safe. Heavy-duty farm gates have to be able to put up with a lot of harsh treatment from the weather and temperature, to being knocked by farm vehicles or larger animals such as bulls. A good quality, well-made galvanised field gate will last for many years with good installation and regular maintenance, so it should be seen as an investment.
The 4.0ft wide 7-Rail Farm Gate Kit is one of many sizes available from First Fence and it contains a Gate Leaf, Hanging Post, Slotted Post, Adjustable Gate Eyes, Spring Bolt Kit and Ribbed Inserts. It is made from galvanised steel so is ideally suited to being permanently fixed out of doors.
The metal Gate Leaf is a 7-rail design with tubular rails running horizontally across the width. These rails are spaced closely at the lower section of the leaf and this helps prevents smaller livestock from escaping through. The rails are welded to box sections at each side of the leaf making the construction very sturdy. The Hanging Post and Slotted Post both measure 2000mm actual length (with a minimum dig in of 600mm) and have a diameter of 114.3mm (4.5"). Adjustable Gate Eyes are also included, as is a Spring Bolt Kit and Ribbed Inserts for the open ends of the gate box sections.
A gateway should be able to facilitate entry of farm equipment and machinery and will determine the width of the gate you need. First Fence can supply this gate style in one foot increments from 3ft-16ft. It is available as a dig in format and therefore will need Post Mix to secure the posts into soft ground. The ground clearance may vary depending on the local conditions.
