The HD/K-110 heavy duty load cavity wall lintel is suitable for bearing heavier loads than a standard load lintel. This is ideal for use in the construction of cavity walls for cavities with a width between 110mm and 125mm. This heavy-duty load lintel has a 95mm outer leaf and a wider 125mm inner leaf. With this wider inner leaf, this lintel is suitable for supporting stonework or block work, which normally have a wider profile than brickwork. The lintel can support blocks or stonework on its inner leaf with a maximum width of 150mm (125mm leaf width + 25mm overhang)
Available in 150mm increments starting from 750mm up to 2700mm, allowing for load bearing support over a variety of gap sizes, which makes this ideal for supporting loads over windows or doors.
Please note: In order for the lintel to bear the loads specified, a 150mm bearing at each end must be accounted for. For example: if there is a gap of 1800mm, you would need to add at least 300mm to the length of the lintel required.
This range of lintels has been constructed from high quality pre-galvanised mild steel and satisfy the thermal performance requirements of England and Wales’ Part L of the building regulations, Northern Ireland’s part F and Scotland’s technical handbook, section 6.
In order for the lintel to achieve the loading figures in the table below, steps must be taken to ensure that this lintel is installed in the correct manner.
The figures also take into account the different loading types which are common in traditional cavity wall construction. These figures have been acquired through testing in accordance with the requirements of standards BS 5977 Part 2: 1983 and BS EN 845-2:2003
Differential Total UDL kN 3:1 (up to 75% loading on the inner leaf)
Differential Total UDL kN 19:1 (up to 95% loading on the inner leaf)
Length (150mm increments) | Height (mm) | Steel Thickness (mm) | Total ULD kN 3:1 | Total ULD kN 19:1 |
750 - 1350 | 131 | 2.9 | 20 | 17 |
1500 - 1800 | 148 | 2.9 | 30 | 25 |
1950 - 2100 | 195 | 2.9 | 30 | 25 |
2250 - 2700 | 195 | 3.2 | 36 | 32 |
