Material | Pre-Galvanised Steel |
The T/K-50 standard load bearing cavity wall timber frame lintel has been designed for use with a timber frame construction to support standard masonry loads on its outer leaf. This lintel has a 95mm wide outer leaf and a height of 110mm to 250mm (depending on the length of the lintel).
This lintel has been constructed from high quality pre galvanised mild steel which, depending on the lintel’s width, is between 2.0mm and 3.0mm thick.
The T/K-50 lintels are available in 150mm increments starting at 750mm up to 4800mm, which allows for load bearing over a wide variety of opening sizes for doors or windows.
Please note: These lintels require a 150mm end bearing at each end of the lintel for correct installation. For example: if the opening size is 1200mm then the lintel will require an additional 300mm added to its length to accommodate the end bearings.
In order for this range of lintels to achieve the load figures specified in the table below, the lintel will need to be installed correctly. The T/K-50 lintel must be used in conjunction with lateral restraint clips and a tight-fitting wooden batten, which will prevent the lintel from twisting. A single timber pinch batten that is 300mm in length long positioned at the midpoint will be sufficient.
The figures also take into account the different loading types which are common in traditional cavity wall construction. These lintels have been tested as a composite unit with surrounding masonry and have been built in accordance with BS EN 1996-2:2006. These figures have been acquired through testing in accordance with the requirements of standards BS 5977 Part 2: 1983 and BS EN 845-2:2003
