Designed for cavity widths of 90-105mm, these lintels are available in a wide range of heights and lengths. These lintels are designed to support structures of bricks and mortar, by slotting between the opening between these two methods of support. They can be used as decoration or as a structural feature.
When installing, you will need to be aware of what wall type you will be using and how wide the structural opening it. Also check what will be supported by the lintel to make sure you have the correct measurements to suit your project. To install, place the lintel on a bed of mortar on top of your blockwork. Ensure that there is an even distribution of the load between the outer and inner leaves of the cavity wall.
This type of steel lintels is often used on heavier and larger openings. The Lintels have an RSJ style ‘I beam’ design so they can fit easily into the section you need supporting.
Many uses for Lintel beams include, providing support over doorways, windows and fireplaces. As well as the previously mentioned uses, they can also be used to provide an overall level of structural support for buildings depending on the load and pressure on different parts of the structure.
