Product Description

Build Your Own Recycled Plastic Closed Board Rail System

Introducing recycled plastic closed board fencing, a resilient and eco-friendly barrier method of defining boundary lines. This product has been manufactured from Plaswood, a high quality, innovative and durable material. Unlike wood or steel, Plaswood is unaffected by all weather conditions. It is resistant to rot, splinter-free, moisture-repellent, and requires no maintenance.

This range of recycled fencing is eco-friendly, being made from plastic waste that has been diverted from landfills and ingeniously made into a high-quality alternative to real wood. It is durable, strong, weatherproof, sustainable and maintenance-free once correctly installed.

Features of closed board fencing

Closed board fencing is a style that provides solid coverage and privacy. It is also known as feather edge fencing. It is constructed of vertical boards that are securely fixed to horizontal rails attached to posts. This type of fencing is very popular due to the sturdy construction, versatility, and ability to create a strong, private boundary.

Since the boards leave no gaps, closed board fencing provides complete privacy, and the solid structure enhances security by making it difficult to see through or climb over. When properly constructed and maintained, closed board fencing is highly durable and able to withstand variable weather conditions. Its simple, clean lines make it suitable for many applications including residential boundaries, garden enclosures, commercial and industrial boundaries, and agricultural fencing.

Choose your components

To build your own recycled plastic closed board fence system:

  • Choose the meterage of the fencing run.
  • Add the horizontal rails. These measure 3.1m and are attached to the upright posts to form the framework of the fence. Two are required for each 3.1m section for the 1.2m and 1.5m systems, and 3 per section for the 1.8m system.
  • Add the posts. You will need two posts per 3.1m section and an end post. Choose from a 1.2m, 1.5m or 1.8m system. The 1.7m post supports the 1.2m system, the 2.0m post supports the 1.5m system, and the 2.7m post supports the 1.8m system.
  • Add the pales. These are attached vertically to the horizontal rails. You will need 28 per 3.1m bay plus 2 centre pales (30 in total).
  • Add the centre pales. These are slightly longer than the standard pales and touch the ground to add support. Two are needed per 3.1m bay.
  • Add an end post. This is needed to complete a run. Choose the post size to match the other posts in your run.

Installation

This is a dig-in only format, designed for most types of ground, and requires post mix to give a solid and secure installation. It is recommended that posts are installed at 1.5m post centre intervals and that you use one bag of post mix per post. The 1.2m and 1.5m system posts should be installed 500mm into the ground, and the 1.8m system post should be 900mm in the ground.

To fix the posts, rails and pales, use twin flight, parallel thread, coarse pitch screws similar to those used with wooden particle boards or hi-low screws. Please note that fixings do not come with this product.

This system is available in black and brown.
